Quick FAQ
How do I listen to a page?
Open Browse, go to a page, then use Reader / Listen controls to hear it. You can also open a saved article from Library and play from Reader or Now Playing. Pick a voice in Settings › Voice. Phonon’s Zoey is the usual default when Phonon is installed.
How does Safari Share work?
In Safari (or another app that shares URLs), open the share sheet and choose Meridian Reader. The app opens that address in Browse. If Meridian does not appear, scroll the share sheet, tap Edit Actions, and enable it. After a reinstall, share targets can take a moment to refresh.
How do I open a PDF or EPUB?
In Files (or another app), use Open In / Share and choose Meridian Reader, or in Library tap + and Import a File…. The file is copied into the app’s storage on your iPhone.
Why does a voice ask to download a model?
On-device engines such as Kokoro and Phonon need model files (on the order of roughly 100-170 MB depending on the pack). Download over Wi-Fi when you can. After the model is on the device, listening does not need Meridian servers.
Where does my data live?
On your iPhone: library items, settings, prepared audio, and downloaded models. There is no Meridian account. See the Privacy Policy for detail. Deleting the app removes that on-device data.
Microphone permission?
Only for optional dictation in the Browse address bar. You can leave it off if you type addresses instead.
